{{archive top}} The American "new age" practice of Access was founded by Gary Douglas of Santa Barbara, CA in 1990, and would have to be classified as an offshoot of Scientology, as Douglas spent many years in Scientology and Access has many ideas derived from there. Like Scientology, its goal is “clearing” of negative fixed ideas held in place by “emotional charge” acquired from incidents earlier in this life and/or past lives. To this end, “processes” are “run,” consisting of repetitive questions or statements, to stir up and then clear the charge.

Access places a far greater emphasis on group processing than Scientology does. In the group processing, it uses convoluted, repetitive “clearing statements” designed to confuse the conscious mind to bypass it so that the unconscious can be addressed and cleared. The workshops are a combination of teaching various Access therapies (mostly cognitive and hands-on physical), and the group processes run by the “facilitator” on the students. Access, being group-processing oriented more than one-on-one, is necessarily far less ambitious than Scientology in its clearing goals, and is geared toward providing just enough clearing to help the person change his/her life for the better, often in one particular area.

The group processing is similar to the so-called “advanced levels” of Scientology only in that the student is downright handed themes (deemed to be universal) to clear by the facilitator, and in its use of repetition (called "repeater technique" in Scientology) until all available charge is deemed to have been discharged. However, as in Scientology, although the students are told what themes to run, the process is not run unless it “reads” -- is deemed to have charge -- at the moment before it is to be run. “Read” is another term taken from Scientology, although in Access it is not a physical read from a meter as in Scientology, but a psychic perception on the part of the facilitator. Access facilitators are taught to “follow the energy,” much the way a Scientologist is taught to follow the meter reads. Additionally, the Access facilitator is expected to be a sort of “orchestra conductor” of the energy, often using hand motions to “move” and dissipate the energy.

As of 2006 Access largely consists of Gary Douglas jetting around the world (mostly the U.S. and Australia/New Zealand) delivering 4-day workshops, with an additional few dozen other facilitators in a handful of cities around the U.S. and “down under” delivering lower level classes, which consist of both clearing and training in the basic techniques of Access. On a scale where Transcendental Meditation and Scientology are considered major new age practices, with Eckankar and Reiki perhaps only "minor-major" practices, Access would qualify only as a "major-minor," with less than a thousand serious practitioners around the world and little organizational structure. Unlike Scientology, Access eschews the cult-building tactic of declaring Access to be “the only way,” and in fact most Access practitioners are involved in other new age practices.

Ferdinand, American racehorse foaled in 1983 at Claiborne Farm, Paris Kentucky. Ferdinand, a muscular chestnut colt, was bred by Howard Keck, and was sired by English Triple Crown champion Nijinsky II, out of Banja Luka, by Double Jay. Ferdinand was only an ordinary juvenile at two, but blossomed on the track at three. After a promising third place finish in the Santa Anita Derby, Ferdinand went on to take the Kentucky Derby in storybook fashion under 56-year-old rider Bill Shoemaker, the oldest jockey ever to win the Louisville classic. Ferdinand was trained by Charlie Whittingham, who was in his seventies when Ferdinand captured the Derby. Following the Derby, Ferdinand finished second in the Preakness and third in the Belmont Stakes. At four, Ferdinand emerged as America's Horse of the Year. During the season, he won four races, including the Hollywood Gold Cup and the Breeders Cup Classic. In the latter race, Ferdinand met the year younger Alysheba, that year's Kentucky Derby champion, and in a thrilling finish, beat his younger rival a nose. Ferdinand served several seasons at stud at his birthplace, Claiborne Farm. After proving disappointing as a sire, he was sold in 1994 for stud duty to Japan. He fared no better there, and late in 2002, it was found that he had been "disposed of," a polite way of saying he had ended his days in a slaughterhouse. Ferdinand's fate, along with that of the racehorse Exceller in a Swedish slaughterhouse in 1997, have served to call for more stringent sales clauses for horses being sent to foreign countries for breeding purposes, many owners now including right-to-reacquire clauses in the sales contracts.

Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for Bluetooth

[edit]

Also referred to as the AV profile, it is designed to transfer a stereo audio stream like music from an MP3 player to a headset or car radio. This profile relies on GAVDP. It includes mandatory support for low complexity subband codec (SBC) and supports optionally: MPEG-1,2 Audio, MPEG-2,4 AAC and ATRAC. Bluetake's I-Phono Hi-Fi Sport Headphones are an example of this profile being employed.

For more info, see Bluetooth.

[edit]
The Unedible Clam's oxford Companion 2004: Edited By John D. westmiker.

An unedible clam is not only a clam that can not be eaten, but is also a clam, which is found in the southern part of the the northwestern side of the eastern border of the south western area of america. On the other hand these clams can also be found in the middle of the pacific ocean. Called by the pacific rim natives "jofageba-dniedb" which in english means clam without taste. These clams when trying to be cooked set a flame upon themselves and release toxic gases which are harmful to the average human lung. That is the Unedible clam for ya!

Farm to School programs connect schools with local farmers. Schools buy and feature farm fresh foods such as fruits and vegetables, eggs, honey, meat and beans on their menus; incorporate nutrition based curriculum; and provide students experiential learning opportunities through farm visits, gardening and recycling programs. Farmers have access to a new market through schools and participate in programs designed to educate kids about local food and agriculture.

Farm to School programs work to counteract the trends of increasing childhood obesity and decreasing farmland by incorporating healthy, nutritious, local products into school lunches, snacks and salad bars. When combined with nutrition education, farm visits, school gardens, and education in the classroom, children can develop healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime. The major goals of the Farm to School Program are to partner local farmers with nearby schools, so that: 1) children can enjoy tasty fruits and vegetables, while connecting with farms - the source of their food; and 2) farmers can develop an additional source of income.
